Open DC and Campana Partnership To Boost Malaysia-Thailand Data Connectivity

Open DC Sdn Bhd and Campana Group are partnering up to enhance regional connectivity and digital growth in Southeast Asia by extending Campana’s subsea cable at the Satun Cable Landing Station in Thailand via terrestrial cable to the D8-1 data centre, owned and managed by Open DC in Delapan, Special Border Economic Zone in Malaysia.

The partnership was made official when both companies signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) that outlines the plan to create a high-speed, reliable connection between Thailand and Malaysia, driving digital growth and enhancing network resilience for businesses and consumers in both countries.

The D8-1 data centre, located just 2km from the Thai border, is a key hub for cross-border connectivity, offering top-tier infrastructure and optimising data performance across the region.

Open DC Managing Director Wong Weng-Yew said the benefits of the new infrastructure include faster data transfer speeds, reduced downtime, and improved cloud computing and data exchange capabilities.

Meanwhile, Campana Chief Executive Officer Dr Myo Ohn said the project will reinforce Southeast Asia’s digital backbone, providing new opportunities for growth and innovation.

Overall, both Wong and Ohn said the collaboration is expected to have a significant impact on the telecommunications landscape, improving access to international markets for Malaysian businesses and supporting regional digital transformation. – BusinessToday
